From Moscow to Bactria, Sogdiana and Shash Duration: 6 days / 5 nights Description: A fascinating historical tour from Moscow to the legendary ancient country's Bactria, Sogdiana and Shash. Travel to the ancient cities of the East – Termez, Shahrisabz, Samarkand and Tashkent. Visiting ancient forts, archaeological and historical sites. Route: Termez - Shahrisabz - Samarkand - Tashkent Day 1: Moscow - Termez (flight, HY) 05:30 - Arrival in Termez by flight HY-610. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. Breakfast. Rest. 11:00 - Start sightseeing in ancient Termez. Termez - one of the oldest cities in the world, which, thanks to its key position on the Silk Road, played an important role in the dissemination and synthesis of various civilizations and cultures - Zoroastrian, Hellenistic, Buddhist and Muslim.
Lunch. Continue sightseeing: the ruins of Old Termez (IX-XII c.); Mausoleum of Hakim at-Termeziy (XII-XV c.); Sultan Saodat Mausoleum (XIII-XIV c.); Kirk-Kiz Nunnery (VI-XI c.); Buddhist monuments of Termez: monastery Fayaztepa (I-III c.), Stupa Zurmala (III c.). Dinner. Overnight. Day 2: Termez - Jarkurgan - Dalvarzin - Termez (220 km, the car/van/coach) Breakfast.  After breakfast we will go on a tour to the ancient capital of the Kushan Empire - Dalvarzintepa. On the way we will stop at Jarkurgan and visit to the monument of medieval architecture - Jarkurgan minaret (XII c.). Then we visit a national home and sharing traditional food of Surkhandarya region - "Tandoor-kebab" - lamb roasted in a special oven - "tandoor". Lunch. After lunch we continue the way and arriving at Dalvarzin, we will explore the archaeological excavations of the ancient city Dalvarzintepa (I c.). Return to Termez. Free time. Dinner in a traditional restaurant. Overnight. Day 3: Termez - Shakhrisabz - Samarkand (435 km, the car/van/coach) Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Samarkand. On the way – visit to homeland of Amir Temur - Shahrisabz. Our route passes through the picturesque gorges and passes of the Hissar range, hot steppe and blooming Kashka Darya valley.
After lunch - sightseeing in Shahrisabz - the Ak-Saray (XIV-XV c.) - the ruins of a grandiose palace of Tamerlane; Complex Dor-us Saodat ("Place of power") (XIV-XVI centuries.), where is the tomb of Temur's sons - Jahangir and Umar; Complex Dor-ut Tilovat ("Place of reflection and contemplation") (XIV c.) - the mausoleum of Timur's spiritual mentor - Sheikh Shamseddin Kulol, where also buried Timur’s father - Amir Taragai; Gumbazi Saiydon (XV c.) - Mausoleum (makbarat) of Ulugbek’s descendants; Congregational mosque Kuk Gumbaz (XV c.). Then we continue the way to Samarkand. On arrival in Samarkand accommodation at hotel. Rest after the trip, and then dinner at a restaurant in Samarkand. Overnight. Day 4: Samarkand Breakfast. Start excursion in the "Rome of the East" - the ancient Samarkand, capital of the Timurid’s Empire.  During the excursion you will visit the Observatory of Ulugbek (XIV-XV c.) - the pride of Ulugbek, ruler and a great scientist, a grandson of Timur; Mausoleum Doniyor Paygambar (St.Daniel) (XIV, XX c.), revered by both Muslims, Christians and Jews; History Museum at the ancient city Afrasiab (VIII c. BC); Mausoleum complex Shahi-Zinda (XII-XV c.) – necropolis, consisting of more than 20 unique mausoleums of different times of construction. Shahi Zinda - a whole street of the medieval town, which is preserved to this day, where lies the oldest buildings in Samarkand; Bibi Honim Mosque (XIV c.), built by Timur in honor of his beloved wife. Beside to this mosque is located the oldest Siab Bazaar, the traditional "eastern" market in Samarkand. Has retained its unforgettable color and atmosphere, surprises tourists with its colorful and variety of products and goods.  Lunch. After lunch - Continue excursion: Gur-Emir Mausoleum (XIV-XV c.) – Timurid’s dynasty tomb; a masterpiece of medieval architecture and the main symbol of Samarkand - Registan Square: Ulugbek Madrassah (XV c.), Sherdor Madrassah (XVII c.) and Tilla Kori Madrassah (XVII c.). After the excursion you will have free time. Dinner at the traditional Uzbek family with cooking “pilaf”. Overnight. Day 5: Samarkand - Tashkent (355 km, train) Breakfast. Visit to the "Meros" craft center. Acquainted with traditional crafts - pottery, ceramics, gold embroidery, silk paper production and manufacturing of various products with their own hands, which you can pick up a souvenir. Lunch. After lunch - free time. 16:00 - Transfer to the train station. 17:00 - Transfer to Tashkent by high-speed train "Afrasiab". 19:40 - Arrival in Tashkent. Transfer at the hotel and accommodation. Dinner. Day 6: Tashkent - Moscow (flight HY) Breakfast.
After breakfast at the hotel you will start sightseeing in Tashkent - the capital of Uzbekistan: Hazrati Imam Complex: Barak-Khan Madrassah (XVI, XIX c.), Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum (XV c.), Mui-Mubarak Madrasah (XIX c.), which houses the oldest Koran, written in VII c. Dinner. Free time to explore the city. 16:00 - Transfer to the airport. 19:10 - Departure from Tashkent to Moscow. Tour price: on request.
